Dear Students:
This letter should be shared with your parents. There is a space on your student information sheet where you and your parents should sign, indicating that you have read the following information. In Spanish, you will be learning to communicate about present events and recognize how to express past and future events. Emphasis will be on communicating your own ideas in the language. We will be listening to a wide variety of dialects and registers in various formats ranging from news broadcasts to pop music and we will be reading examples from news articles to short poems. Your personal goals for the term should include gaining a firm foundation of vocabulary and a substantial start in both oral and written fluency. At this level, you should expect to spend 20-45 min. on homework (which will include reading/listening to grammar lectures in English, studying vocabulary, and practicing reading/listening) every night, not just on the days we meet. Such activities will form part of homework, with a list of activities to be completed in a given week. |
